Rocket Lab Launches Electron Rocket to Deploy Japan’s Cloud‑Penetrating Satellite
The launch, the 99th mission for Rocket Lab, carried the iQPS‑developed satellite The Sea God Surveys, which uses synthetic‑aperture radar to image Earth through clouds.

Launch Details
On Monday, November 2, Rocket Lab launched its Electron rocket from a New Zealand launch site at 13:41 Brasília time, carrying the Japanese Earth‑observation satellite The Sea God Surveys.
Satellite Capabilities
Developed by iQPS, the satellite uses synthetic‑aperture radar to capture images of the Earth's surface at night and under cloud cover, and will be placed in a low Earth orbit at approximately 575 km altitude.
The launch marks Rocket Lab’s 99th mission overall and the 90th flight of the two‑stage Electron configuration, while it is the 10th joint flight with iQPS and the 17th Electron launch in 2026. The company’s HASTE suborbital variant has completed nine missions this year.
