Cold Front Triggers Severe Weather Alerts in Brazil’s Centro‑Sul
The forecast warns of persistent storms that could impact Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais, while the heatwave is expected to return to the Centro‑Oeste and Norte after the rains.
Weather Alert
A cold front is triggering severe weather alerts across the Centro‑Sul of Brazil, with heavy rains and winds exceeding 100 km/h expected through the week, according to meteorologist Artur Miller of Canal Rural.
Affected States
The alert covers Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais, and advises residents to prepare for sudden downpours and strong gusts, Canal Rural reported citing the National Institute of Meteorology.
After the intense rainfall period, temperatures are projected to climb to 40°C in the Centro‑Oeste and Norte, while new precipitation is expected to reach Goiás, Minas Gerais and the Matopiba region from September 9, potentially easing the ongoing drought.
Residents in affected areas are urged to stay informed through local weather services and to take precautions against flooding and wind damage.
