Binance Exposes $6.3 Billion Hack Using Fake Job Interview and AI
The exchange details how attackers exploited social engineering and AI tools to breach internal systems, culminating in a $6.3 billion theft.

Attack Overview
On 29 October, Binance announced that hackers had stolen approximately US$6.3 billion in cryptocurrency by exploiting a fabricated job interview and artificial‑intelligence tools, according to a report released on Tuesday.
Initial Compromise
The attack began in June when a developer downloaded a malicious AI tool supplied by the attackers; the company identified the issue, replaced the machine and changed credentials, yet the compromised device remained a gateway for the intruders.
Final Breach
In September, a second engineer was lured through a seemingly legitimate hiring process, downloaded a malicious code repository, and the attackers later used Binance’s internal AI system to gain control of two wallet‑development accounts, culminating in the final breach on 29 October.
